Udo has proven his ability to rock stages in Belgium many times including “The X-Factor” and “Zo Is Er Maar Een” (Best Evergreen among 60 national artists). He never intended to end up as a professional singer, Udo had number ones, radio hits, awards and golden records. He hosted the TV programme “Hit The Road”. And as a person he truly did hit the road to success whilst having his feet firmly on the ground.
Besides writing for himself as an artist, Udo likes to deliver tailor-made songs for other Belgian and international artists. Some international writers Udo has worked with include:
Alan Scott (UK – Celine Dion, Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin), Kit Hain (UK/USA – Marshall & Hain, Cher, Chaka Khan), Adrian Zagoritis (UK – No Angels, Elize), Rob Davis (UK/USA – Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Kylie Minogue), Elliott Murphy (USA/FRA – Eliott Murphy, Bruce Springsteen), Rob Harris (UK – Jamiroquai), Alan Glass (UK/USA – Aretha Franklin, George Benson, Earth Wind and Fire), Tjeerd Oosterhuis (HOL – Total Touch, Trijntje Oosterhuis), Luca Chiaravalli (ITA – Francesco Renga), Peter Hägeras (SWE) and so many other gifted people who deserve being on this list but would make it too long.
For a couple of years now, Udo has worked closely with publisher Sandra Mynheer (25 Media Berlin) and Bailer Music Publishing in successful collaboration with a few cuts and many successful sessions.
Teodora Dinu places as a finalist with Udo Mechel's song "Skyscraper" on Eurovision Romania TV. Dinu states that she received over fifty songs for the competition, but none were “quite her style” until she heard “Skyscraper,” after which it was love at first sight!
